Heterogeneous and Homogeneous Classes: The Issue is Equity
This one-day event is for school/district teams of participants from grades 6 - 12. These teams should include both teachers and administrators. In order to continue the discussion, it is suggested that more than one person come from one school. Preference will be given to attending teams, although individuals will be accepted. At the end of the day participants will have had an opportunity to: 1) EXPLORE why organizing classes and schools by heterogeneous groups enhances learning for ALL students. 2) ANALYZE research about heterogeneous groupings of students. 3) IDENTIFY next steps appropriate for an action plan for the effective implementation of equity issues in grouping strategies 4) EXAMINE successful programs where heterogeneous groups are working. |
