This survey was designed by the Alliance Schools leadership team at Harvard Elementary School,
Harvard, Massachusetts. (See Teachers Leading Change.)
Purpose To identify gaps and areas of overlap in our current K–6 science programs and to determine how our programs align with the Science Frameworkswhere do we successfully connect and where are there gaps. Defining the Terms of the Survey Level of depth Please assign one of the following numerical values to each learning standard on your survey. Please do not average your scores. If there is variation across classrooms in your grades level, you may assign more than one numerical value to each standard. 1. This standard is "touched on" or introduced in your grade level/class 2. This standard gets "moderate" coverage. You expect your students to have some understanding of the content/skills taught. |
3. This standard is taught/studied "in-depth." You expect student mastery, and mastery is supported by some form of assessment (e.g., performance measures, projects, tests) in which students demonstrate their knowledge or skill.
Approximate amount of time Please state in total minutes or hours the approximate amount of time you spend on this standard. If there is variation across classrooms in your grade level, please indicate the amount of time spent in each classroom. Do not give individual teacher names. Science material used Please indicate if the materials used to meet each standard are: • teacher developed • purchased kits (please give vendor’s name and unit name) • texts ( please indicate which text/s your are using) Is equal emphasis placed on this {standard} in each classroom? Please indicate yes or no. |
