Middle Level Education Institute (MLEI)

July 5-9, 1999

University of Maine

Since 1985, MLEI has hosted more than 2000 teachers, administrators, and parents seeking to learn ways to make their schools more developmentally responsive to young adolescents. The goals of the institute are to provide information and resources on the latest research, best practices, and needs of 10-14 year olds, as well as to help with the process of planning, implementing, and assessing programs unique to each school.

MLEI is designed for school teams, and programs are diverse enough to meet the needs of teams at different stages in the change process. Many teams return to the institute to continue their work as part of a long-term staff development effort.
