Making Schools Work for
All Students is the theme of the fourth annual Alliance Schools Institute. Leadership
teams from the network of 70 Alliance Schools will gather in June to enhance
their knowledge of math and science
reform strategies and formulate plans for 1999Ð2000. Each team will devote four days to
refining their reform goals, while strengthening their capacity to meet those goals.
In addition to team planning time, the schedule includes problem-solving sessions and periods
for exploring issues related to math and science curriculum and instruction, leadership, equity,
and professional development. For the planning and problem-solving sessions, teams will be able to
take advantage of the math and science resources from the Regional Alliance library as well as the
expertise of educators from around the region.
All participants will attend in one of nine content workshops that will meet for
seven hours during the course of the
four-day institute.
Workshop topics include:
Each year the summer institute helps Alliance School leadership teams
lay the foundation for successful reform work during the academic year.
The Alliance looks forward to strengthening the ability of each team and
the network to further school improvement efforts.
