The Regional Alliance Web site, the Hub, can point you to many technology resources, including the ones listed on this page. The Hub - http://ra.terc.edu/ can also help you learn more about the TIMSS study featured on page 1. What countries participated? How was the study designed? What grades were tested? There are publications available online that can help you answer these questions and more.

The TIMSS section also includes a talk given by Susan Loucks-Horsley, co-director of the Professional Development Project of the National Institute for Science Education. In her talk, delivered at regional NSTA conferences in Phoenix, Atlanta, and Toronto, she states "I'm interested in TIMSS because I think it's an opportunity for us to learn more about what we do in our classrooms and how we can help teachers. The most important thing about TIMSS is it doesn't bash teachers if you go beyond the headlines. The fact is that we as a society are demanding teachers to do far more than they can possibly do. And they're trying to do it. And so this is not about teacher bashing. This is about the kind of demands that we put on our- selves as educators. Coherence and focusing is one of the major themes." Connect to the Hub to hear her talk or read the transcript.
